All my babies were born with allergies. How do I know? I was blessed to have had one of the best pediatricians in Westfield, NJ., Dr. Donna Levy, M.D. (God rest her young soul... she died before we moved out of the Scotch Plains area of New Jersey, nine years ago.)
She knew I was adopted, and knew nothing of my own medical history, so as a mother herself, she was very patient explaining babies to me. She explained, babies with eczema, and dark red circles under their eyes were prone to allergies. As such, I should keep an eye on my first-born, Alexa, who had very sensitive skin, red circles under her eyes, and kidney/urethra problems when she was first born. Professionally speaking, I was specialized in Renal and Respiratory care, so I was prepared for the wheezing and coughing... but nothing prepares a mother for her baby turning blue.
Both twins of mine have asthma. Both twins have different versions of asthma, and it's a real emotional stress on me.
It's harvest season where we now live, and the plumes of smoke of whatever chemicals the farmers use can be seen from the highway. Katie-Bird, as we call her, is wheezing like no tomorrow, and Mr B is coughing like a lunatic. I HATE this time of year. I get no sleep.
I worry about my babies.
Are there other mothers out there suffering with Allergy-Season?
Anyone hate it more than I do?
