Is a person's belief system something he's born with, or something taught? How many of you believe in the Power of Prayer?

Confused? See where do you fit...

Prayer is the act of attempting to communicate, commonly with a sequence of words, with a deity or spirit for the purpose of worshiping, requesting guidance, confessing sins, or to express one's thoughts and emotions. The words of the prayer may take the form of a hymn, incantation, or a spontaneous utterance in the praying person's words.

Meditation describes a state of concentrated attention on some object of thought or awareness. It usually involves turning the attention inward to a single point of reference. Meditation is often recognized as a component of Eastern religions, where it has been practiced for over 5,000 years. It encompasses any of a wide variety of spiritual practices which emphasize mental activity or quiescence.

The word meditation comes from the Latin meditatio, which originally indicated every type of physical or intellectual exercise, then later evolved into the more specific meaning "contemplation."

Eastern spiritual teachings, including meditation, have been adapted and increasingly practiced in Western culture.

Human self-reflection is the capacity of humans to exercise introspection and the willingness to learn more about our fundamental nature, purpose and essence. The earliest historical records demonstrate the great interest which humanity has had in itself. Human self-reflection invariably leads to inquiry into the human condition and the essence of humankind as a whole.

Human self-reflection is related to the philosophy of consciousness, the topic of awareness, consciousness in general and the philosophy of mind.Humans often consider themselves to be the dominant species on Earth and the most advanced in intelligence and ability to manage their environment. This belief in Western culture is derived in part from the Biblical creation story in which Adam is blessed to rule over and have dominion over the Earth and all of its creatures (Genesis 1:26).

Holy shit!!!

This belief in Western culture is derived in part from the Biblical creation story in which Adam is blessed to rule over and have dominion over the Earth and all of its creatures (Genesis 1:26).

This reads to me that Western-Thought has assigned himself God's gift to women and children, and therefore able to own us.

Isn't it supposed to be a man's job to protect his woman and children from animals, not abandon them?  Why do men so easily behave like animals, and explain it as being "it's our nature"?  Dumbasses!

holy f'n shit!

God's Plan?

I don't like to argue or start fights... I simply like to present the facts as I see them as I have read them, and I like to make sure all sides are represented fairly.  I truly believe the displaced and misplaced child has been kept in the dark far too long, and it's time to bring some light on the subject.

Enough is enough, so here is what I found:

There is an excellent discussion about Marriage.... which can be read here

No where in the text is it asked within the contect of sex and marriage, God and Jesus, what would God want if sex took place if a child was created outside of marriage.  [Afterall, isn't that how Jesus, himself was created through Mary, the virgin?]

According to the next chapter, a child's religion is based on the mother, not father.

"What God puts together, let no man put asunder"

So how can adoption be part of God's plan?

maybe off topic here

@Kerry I answered to your poll, Last option, "I don't know what I believe"

As a scientist I'm afraid to believe. I don't know what I believe, but as soon as I am confronted with the fact that something I think is a belief (rather than knowledge) I tend to reconsider (soon) In my view, "belief" is dangerous, because it is a path of no return. Once you believe, you stay in a "belief-state" no matter what, it's difficult to escape from that and go think otherwise. I have to leave opinions daily (on another forum, attributing/dating antiquities)

Is "ethics" an absolute science ? I think believers believe in that. I don't. I can imagine circumstances where adoption is regarded as very welcome, it may even give reason for celebration (or sacrifice to the gods or whatever ! ).

How about new terms for services?

PPL's pages are filled with the history of adoption practices, so if you wish to learn more about the details of child placement, and how profit is made by lies and the fraud associated with the dirty-dealings of deeds and forged documents paid by coin horders, feel free to read all about them here.

My concern is simple:  who is going to guard the safe-keeping of a child born if there are adults selling babies to strangers, claiming that baby is an orphan?  Is it right to sell a child, knowing damn well that baby has parents and family searching for that baby?

THIS is what the International Adoption Industry still is in 2007, and it needs to stop it's profit-making incentives so no child is trafficked into the hands of greedy bastards.

Parents who pray-together, stay together

This makes me laugh, especially if they are ones who adopt from Christian-affiliated adoption scams. (Like Planned Parenthood and other religious-affliated programs)  Why?  It's like saying: "Finder's keepers, loser's weepers".  If there's a finder-fee or contract-signing for the birth-mother - or adoption recruit being hired, buyer better beware, adoptive parent!  That child will need all the prayers he/she can get, that's for damn sure!

Adults know ALL children have a lineage that can be traced, but for some reason, it's not when a child and adoption (and profit) can be made and placed.

It's disgusting and immoral that any church gets behind this, and that should be abolished, as I see it as government assisted church-afflilated abduction.
