Behavioral Problems in Children

Behavior problems come in all different sizes for parents with their children, and in many cases the behaviors seem to defy adult logic. All one has to do is a simple web-search of Behavioral Problems to see how many any one search engine can find.

How Much (and many) Can We Afford to Lose?

Ever wonder where the money comes and goes as it relates to social programs like Child Protective Services?

Ever wonder who's responsible for the creation of the individual social programs each government offers it's people, and how these programs reflect the care and concern a Public Servant has for the people he/she serves?

A Baby For All Seasons

Children being viewed as a commodity, that can be bought to fit the parents needs; it is expressedly voiced, by so-called superstar Ricky Martin. Wanting a child from each continent reads to me like words from a collector not from a parent to be.

Filling the void

Though I was born in 1965, I feel my story starts on 25 November 1954. That day both my natural parents and my adoptive parents got married and the often hard to explain who is who of my life story was formed. The short version would be, my natural father's sister and her husband adopted me, turning my aunt and uncle into my mother and father, my father into my uncle and my mother into the ex-wife of my uncle. On top of that it turned my brother and sister into cousins.

Seymour Kurtz: an update

While Baby Broker Watch already has a great page on Seymour Kurtz and I don't want to rehash too much of what is already written there, I still had the urge to find more about the current state of his activities. While being already on the website of the Georgia State Department to look up information about another agency, I accidentally stumbled upon his Golden Link Foundation and decided to look into the published documents.

Infant/Child Response to Grief

When a child is placed in foster care or an adoptive home, care and concern must be given to the grief and loss that infant or child is experiencing. It is my belief too many adoptees and foster kids are being sent to psychologists because parents do not understand the grief process of children. Remember, the new child in your life now has lost the only parents he/she has only ever known. Imagine what that must be like.

Mary's Moral Decision: Lost Role Model Behavior?

Given the holiday season and mother-child theme that is celebrated by so many religious Christians this time of year, it seems appropriate for an adoptee to ask the question: what other option would Mary have had for herself and her child, given her pregnancy and unmarried status when she learned she could take Joseph as her legal husband and move far away to give birth to her baby, fathered by another? [The Christmas Story from the book of Matthew can be found here: http://holydays.tripod.com/chris
