Unique Programs
  • Lake County Humane Society:  The prison, in conjunction with the Lake County Humane Society, has a Pet Foster Program that accepts any animal, mainly cats and dogs.  This program provides housing for these animals to get healthy.  Once healthy, they are returned to the Lake County Humane Society for placement or adoption.  Some of staff from NEPRC have adopted these animals.
  • Hunger and Food Center Donations: Our inmates raised vegetables that were donated to area hunger and food centers last year. This is a continuous program.
  • Expressive Art Therapy: This is a program which seeks to enable inmates to come to terms with varying emotions (frustration, anger, sense of hopelessness, inferiority complexes, etc.) using clay, collages, clowning and mime.
