To upload an image, indeed click the insert/edit image icon. Then a dialog appears with a button "browse server". If you click it another dialog appears, with a button at the bottom called "browse". Clicking that will make it possible to select the image from your local file system. Once you have selected the right image, press the upload button. Then select the image from the list presented in the dialog and press ok. If you want to keep your images together, you can create a folder on the server in the second dialog.
There is no facility available for you to delete image, and since this is part of some standard software, I don't know how to change that, but as administrator I have full access to the server, so if you tell me which image you want removed, I can do it for you.
