The American response to Baby Farming has been the following:
In the United States the law is noticeably strict in most states. In Massachusetts, a law of 1891 directs that "every person who receives for board, or for the purpose of procuring adoption, an infant under the age of three years shall use diligence to ascertain whether or not such infant is illegitimate, and if he knows or has reason to believe it to be illegitimate shall forthwith notify the State Board of Charity of the fact of such reception; and said board and its officers or agents may enter and inspect any building where they may have reason to believe that any such illegitimate infant is boarded, and remove such infant when, in their judgment, such removal is necessary by reason of neglect, abuse or other causes, in order to preserve the infant's life, and such infant so removed shall be in the custody of said Board of Charity, which shall make provision therefor according to law." The penal code of the state of New York requires a licence for baby-farming to be issued by the board of health of the city or town where such children are boarded or kept, and "every person so licensed must keep a register wherein he shall enter the names and ages of all such children, and of all children born on such premises, and the names and residences of their parents, as far as known, the time of reception and the discharge of such children, and the reasons therefor, and also a correct register of every child under five years of age who is given out, adopted, taken away, or indentured from such place III. 4 to or by any one, together with the name and residence of the person so adopting" (Pen. Code, § 288, subsec. 4).
So where does the line get drawn between "assisting a woman and her baby, so she may preserve her family" and "providing babies for private adoption"?
Given the historical treatment of unwed mothers, (http://poundpuplegacy.org/node/19279), and the so-called morality of the clergy, [see "Betrayal of Trust: Clergy Abuse of Children" http://www.ffrf.org/books/betrayal/], how can private adoption practices through a single church/religious organization be deemed "ideal"? [I'm thinking this can be seen as "Profiling for Early Profits"!]

Does anyone else see how cruel it is to send a "disobedient" female (who dared to get pregnant by a MALE) out and away from her friends and family to an isolated "home" nestled in the woods or bosom of the country-side, so the mind-games and conversion can begin?
I mean, really... read the following script, and tell me it doesn't read like a shady deal for the mother-to-be:

Fatherheart Maternity Home is a real home with 12 bedrooms, seven bathrooms, three fireplaces and two sets of house parents. It's nestled among the East Texas pine and oak trees on 40 acres in a peaceful country setting. The house parents live in the home with the 20 young moms. Each young woman shares a bedroom with another expectant mother. Traditional family living includes having meals as a "family" and attending church on Sunday morning and evening. Each young mom also has a chance to grow emotionally, academically and spiritually through carefully planned programs. In the afternoons, high school and middle school students attend our on-site Eagle Charter School, where they earn fully accredited, transferable credits. Eagle Charter is accredited with the Texas Educational Agency as a Texas public school. The self-paced curriculum allows students to complete their education faster than in the traditional school setting. Students who struggle academically also have an opportunity to slow down and bridge gaps that may bring from their earlier educational experiences. GED and college preparation courses are also available. Each morning, the young woman attend Life Skillsand Discipleship classes. All residents attend these classes together, and different speakers talk about a variety of subjects. |
Who's "hope" and "wish" is being fulfilled by these programs that herd unwed mothers like they were cattle for their churces? The Church, The State.... the PARENTS... is anyone getting hurt by and through this bait and switch technique of "child-care"? [Does The Church recognize RAD as much as The State is beginning to see, and does The Church care that adoptees never forget their Original Mother?] Surely SOMEONE must see how mentally manipulating a pregnant woman into submission can be wrong!
Above all else, is religious brainwashing -- an act that was created by our forefathers -- really what we want to support in the land of milk , honey and religious-freedom?
"Charity" begins at home... and thanks to programs like the one above, there are COUNTESS of uncounted children who have been adopted by "religious" adults, who also abused another woman's baby... all in the name of God.
[Yes, "God" spelled backwards is "Dog"....]
How many children and mothers could have been assisted in a way that both, child and safe home-life, could have been saved?
