In some regards, and in certain ways, yes I feel like "a loser", but that doesn't bother me

I'm not sure if I see myself as "a loser" or "a failure", I just know I'm not happy and I feel empty a lot

bully's perspective
I see the term "loser" as one used by a bully and wouldn't want to engrain the notions of a bully into my own belief system, especiially not when it relates to my self image. I've never heard a true winner speak of losers, only wannabe winners and the vicitms they make use of that terminology.
That doesn't mean I have succeeded in every aspect of my life and in all honesty, who has? Along my way I've had missed opportunities, not all that successful attempts and downright failures, but would that qualify me as a loser; maybe so in some people's eyes, but I see that more as their cross to carry than mine.
Personal ownership
For myself, so much has been taken... it's hard not to see the enormity of loss in so many many situations. I remember a conversation with my a.dad and he told me "It can't always be the other-person... maybe it's YOU who isn't nice to be around." Another time, when I was really sad and upset and frustrated about reaching a goal, he told me, "You should lower your standards and begin to expect less."
Words from a replacement-dad.
Less than nothing... can there be a more negative place to be? I would have to rise-above these taught expectations, just to become a zero.
I feel huge loss and failures, I just don't let it kill me. I owe it to myself to not let others kill me more than I already have had killed-off.
Lost opportunities don't make a "loser"
I see my self as someone who lost out on a lot of opportunities, rather than as a loser as the term is generally used when insulting someone, I see it in pretty much the same way as Niels
Birds of a Feather
Let me ask both of you brave boys: would the average well-to-do person looking at you (or the friends you keep) think you LOOK like a bunch of losers?
views from the flock
To the average knock-out beauty I guess I look like a loser.

Got a feeling the neighbours see me a bit like this http://www.purelyrics.com/index.php?lyrics=uiawnnxj ;~)
But my friends see me as a harmless old eccentric. Umm....

Funny, you are not the first person to use that "song" to describe your not-so-hidden disposition! [A great video to it can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JaLjwSpZ6Cs ]
I asked because women frequently ask me, "Why am I drawn to such jerks and losers?... Why can't I find a 'nice guy' who won't cheat or use me?'" [Because you don't ask deep, penetrating questions.]
I'm also asked, "Why are you drawn to such weirdos?" [Because I don't stop asking annoyingly deep penetrating questions.]
I've always thought intelligence and wicked humor is far more attractive than outward appearances, but often those with the most beautiful minds are seen as creepy, ugly, or strange and hide from others wanting to get inside. I can see hurt and pain a mile away, so I'm drawn to those tender-souls. Oddly enough, I've found the most tender of wanting souls are usually the ones most starved for love and act very cold, caustic, and grumpy to those around them.
