"The Ties that Bind"

Bruce Springsteen sings a song about "the ties that bind".  He has two versions, actually.  One from his River album and one recorded earlier.  Of all the songs Bruce has written, do you think he would have forgotten which one was written first?

The Evan B. Donaldson Adoption Institute in NYC wants us to believe they are working to find solutions to problems in troubled families.  Little do people know they are making money fixing problems caused by adoption, itself.  [Feel free to read PPL's posted section about Reactive Attachment Disorders.]

Social workers tend to forget, child placement is a health-care issue.  First and foremost comes a child's care and safety, and that should be provided by those most capable of giving that care.  Gone are the days that used to be the parent's job!  Since when did social workers and lawyers decide how and when health-care should be provided to the children of American parents?  When did these paid professionals get the authority to play God?

Moreover, when did NYC become the ring-leader in practice for children and parents?  "The Adoption Institute" do we really need such a group?  Don't private agencies and practices make enough money already?  Now it must become global with a headquarters stationed in NYC?  Is there no end to this marketing madness?

There are real concerns in areas all over the United States that go well beyond the adoption-card, yet few see the link just yet.

Consider the following article about a hospital in Memphis.

A city's grief: Memphis' infant death epidemic : More babies die in poorest ZIP codes than in some developing countries

Consider how newborns in neonatal intensive care units are in need of help and support, and how parents are losing support and understanding in terms of caring for their babies with high-risk problems.

Meanwhile, consider the stress this puts on couples and families.  Then consider how there is a huge chunk of foster-children being adopted, and medicated after-the fact when in fact there are families that should be helped and healed, instead.

Timing and intervention is everything.  One would have to be reasonable and think, there is no shortage of work.  There seems only to be simply a shortage of proper interest and priority in work-placement  and follow-up these days.

How cruel to have mothers, fathers and children suffer because there is money to be had elsewhere.

here's a small taste of what's out there to sample

It doesn't take long to see how easy it is for us adoptees to get swept-away by the mass-production of information being sold by those who help support the working-agencies!

It's crazy, isn't it?

All I ever wanted was a stable-home!

I guess that was too damn much to ask for, wasn't it?
