A word about copying

Robin's picture

99.99% of the time I am happy to let anyone copy anything that I write on internet boards and blogs if they ask me first and give proper acknowledgement

I don't get paid for what I write here or anywhere else on the internet so therefore I own the copyright to all of it. No one has commissioned anything that I write, therefore no one else has a say in what I allow to be used elsewhere

Hyperlinks fine, RSS fine, copying out of context not fine, copying other's work to use it in a distorted and derogatory way is against the UK copyright acts and Bern Convention copyright legislation

No one else can give you my consent to copy what I write, only me

Cause and effect

I know for us, as a website, we copy articles from news agencies that don't always respond to our requests to copy their material.  We pick and choose pieces that reflect what we want to promote - a parent's, a child's, or a victims perspective - so people can be properly educated in the importance of proper child placement.  I see that as a good thing, and reflecting well on any author we publish on our pages.

Copying is a form of flattery, or a means of battery... so one has to question why a name is being singled-out on any given occasion.

Should have been clearer

by people who seem to think that Niels' consent to use his posts from here allows them to misuse my posts from here
